Tone-deaf vs Stone-deaf
Merriam-Webster
defines
tone-deaf
as "relatively insensitive to differences in musical pitch" whereas
stone-deaf
means "completely deaf".
Simple.
Incidentally, both terms are hyphenated since they serve as adjectives.
